Solar energy system company Sun King has issued a US$130 million equivalent securitisation of customer receivables.
The deal is intended to help improve electricity access in Kenya by bundling consumer financing with Sun King’s solar power systems. Approximately 30% of Kenyans currently live without electricity access.
Investors include Absa Bank Kenya, British International Investments, Citi, FMO, Norfund, Standard Bank Kenya, and the Trade and Development Bank.
