The European Union (EU) is launching a survey to help it improve the liquidity and investor demand for EU bonds.

The EU is one of the world’s largest bond issuers – but its debt is not treated the same as government debt by investors – requiring the EU to pay a premium.

The EU is also looking to have bond index providers include its bonds in their government bond indices.
